Thermocouple With Connection Head #
#
Protection Head Probes are typically utilized in an industrial environment to help protect the probe from harsh conditions. Omega offers protection heads made from stainless steel, aluminium, galvanized cast iron, and glass filled plastic. The head is mated to a thermocouple probe which typically incorporates a threaded NPT fitment (fixed or spring loaded) as well as termination block for lead wire connection. A ceramic or metal thermowell can also be utilized to offer greater protection for the sensor portion of the assembly.
Armored Thermocouple #
Armored thermocouples feature a heavy duty stainless steel armor over the thermocouple wire. The armor protects the wire from mechanical damage. Armored thermocouples are well suited for industrial environments where an unprotected thermocouple may be cut or broken. An alternative to an armored thermocouple is an over braided thermocouple. The over braided thermocouple is more flexible than an armored cable but provides less resistance to abrasion.
Handheld Thermocouple #
Handheld meter for various thermocouple inputs. Rugged design, dual scale with loads of functionality. Handle is permanently molded to probe sheath. Includes cable and miniature connector. A multi-use, low cost, versatile thermocuple which can be used with any handheld. Available off the shelf in many configurations. Thermometrics manufactures a wide variety of handles to meet your temperature range and sanitary service requirements. Handles are available in CPVC, Delrin, Virgin Teflon and Stainless Steel. You may purchase a handle to build your own temperature sensor, or include it as part of a sensor manufactured by Thermometrics for your application.
- The standard configuration has an outside diameter of .75″ and a length of 5″.
- The handle can be supplied with a bore of .063″ to .250″. Set screws can also be provided.
- The order code for this handle is DLXH-Material Type.
High-Temperature Thermocouple #
Exotic Thermocouple Probes are designed for use in extreme temperatures, up to 2315°C (4200°F). These probes utilize either Platinum/Rhodium (types R, S, or B) or Tungsten/Rhenium (types G, C, or D) elements, with a variety of insulations and sheath materials. Depending upon the sheath material selected, these probes may be used in inert, oxidizing, reducing or vacuum conditions. The maximum temperature is based on the lowest max. temperature of the element, insulation and sheath material. Five cold end probe terminations are available: replacement probe, subminiature or standard size ceramic connector, heavy-duty standard size, molybdenum-sheathed nylon connector, or transition joint
High Temperature Thermocouples are specifically designed for durability and reliability in high temperature applications to 4200° F (2315° C). Such applications generally involve oxidizing, reducing, inert gas or contamination atmospheres that challenge the life of the thermocouple.
Surface Mount Thermocouple #
Surfacemount Thermocouple sensors are designed for use in a variety of applications. Our extensive experience in mounting sensors to precision sheet metal stampings provides efficiency to your process by having us perform this initial assembly step. The product shown is a Pt 100 ohm, RTD mounted with high temperature ceramic cement and spliced to 12” of lead wire.
Transition Joint Thermocouple #
Surfacemount Thermocouple sensors are designed for use in a variety of applications. Our extensive experience in mounting sensors to precision sheet metal stampings provides efficiency to your process by having us perform this initial assembly step. The product shown is a Pt 100 ohm, RTD mounted with high temperature ceramic cement and spliced to 12” of lead wire.
Bare Lead Thermocouple #
Bare Lead Mineral Insulated Thermocouple Probes can be used as replacement probes for plant operations. These bare lead mineral insulated probes are constructed of the same high grade materials that are used in our thermocouple sensors. A comprehensive range of diameters, lengths, materials and calibrations can be selected for quick delivery.
Overbraided Thermocouple #
These Thermocouples incorporate high temperature ceramic insulation with inconel overbraid over 20-gage solid conductor thermocouple wires to create a flexible, abrasion resistant thermocouple with a temperature rating of 980°C (1800°F)continuous service and 1090°C (2000°F) short-term service. They are available in 5 Styles and J, K, and E, thermocouple calibarations to meet many different application needs.
Multi-Point Thermocouple #
Multipoint thermocouples are primarily used for temperature profiling in furnaces, chemical reactors and process lines. Multipoint sensors improve control of the reaction process when compared with single point sensors.
Typical examples are:
- Profiling during reduction of organic acids by exothermal oxidation.
- Distillation or fractioning in crude oil separation.
- Thermometrics Multipoint Thermocouples are versatile and robust with high reliability and life performance.
Autoclave Thermocouple #
Autoclave thermocouples are designed to withstand the harsh environment of an autoclave. They are ideally suited for food appliations where steam washdown is necessary.
A thermocouple probe for use in an autoclave has two conductive wires spaced apart and supported in parallel relation by fluoropolymer insulation material. The structure is air-tight which eliminates vacuum and/or steam leakage along the wire and is relatively flat so as not to disrupt the seal where the thermocouple passes through the autoclave.
Magnet Mount Thermocouple #
Magnet Mount Thermocouples can be utilized on any ferrous metals as an easy means to measure surface temperature of an object. They are available in J, K, E, T calibrations.
The magnetic mount thermocuples are a portable means of surface measurment that takes the hassle out of mounting a surface probe to a metal object.
Replacement Thermocouple #
The Flexible lead wire replacement probe is ideal for field installation with existing protection heads or for extending leads to remote locations. Flexible leads prevent breakage in hard to wire situations.
Thermometrics offers replacement probes for any custom configuration. We have the ability to reverse engineer thermocouples that you may not have the specifications for.
Spring Loaded Thermocouple #
Spring-Loaded Thermocouples are designed to measure the surface temperatures of moving or stationary walls by direct contact. The sensing tip is spring-loaded to maintain contact even if the wall is moving. Applications include bearings, rotating shafts, printed circuit boards, molding machines, plates, etc. Available in models as small as 3/4″ overall length. Thermocouple types include ANSI Types J, K, E and T.
Bearing Thermocouple Sensor #
Bearing Thermocouple Sensors types J, K, T & E are designed to measure the critical bearing temperature of the bearing shoes.
Tube Skin/Weld Pad Thermocouple #

Theses configurations can be manufactured as RTDs, Thermocouples, Thermisters & Direct to Digital Semi Conductor Sensors, based on the temperature limitations and specific process requirements
Penetration Thermocouple #
Penetration Probes are utilized when an application requires insertion into a soft, medium, or semi-solid media to allow for best possible internal temperature response.
Screw In Thermocouple #
Pipe Plug Probes are ideal for vessel applications, pressurized containers and applications requiring mounting in a NPT orifice for fixed readings. Pipe probes are available in J, K, T, E calibration as well as grounded, ungrounded, or exposed junction termination.
